Mary Poppins and the Young Women Values

Open Curtains
Narrator (Sister Hughes)- Young women of the Ashdown Forest Ward are gathered in the park (they are holding balloons on the stage- the color of the values and their Personal Progress books) “Winds in the east, mist coming in like something is brewin’ about to BEGIN”

(Enters Mary Poppins with a kite.  She approaches the Young Women)

Mary Poppins (Rachel Zortman)- Hello, Have any of you seen the Banks children?  I am afraid they have left behind their kite and it looks like it has some very important information on the back?

Lainey Fullmer- Who are you?

Mary Poppins- Well I am Mary Poppins.  Your ballons are lovely! I like Ballons! Who are you and what are those books you are holding?

Lainey Fullmer- These are our Personal Progress books.  It shares eight Young Women values to help us understand who we are and why we are here on the earth and it prepares to go to the temple and make sacred covenants.

Mary Poppins- Hmm…  I suppose
“There’s a different point of view awaiting for you, if you just look up”

Becca Hughes-  Yep, you got it Mary, we look up with Faith.  I know I am a daughter of Heavenly Father who loves me.  I have Faith in his eternal plan, which centers on Jesus Christ my Savior.”

Mary Poppins- Well that’s certainly a different point of view.  You know “Everything is possible with the impossible.”

Cassadee Bartlett- Yes, that’s because of our Divine Nature. “I have inherited divine qualities which I will strive to develop.

Mary Poppins- Sounds like you are all on a quest.  Just remember, “Your’re on the Brink of adventure… Don’t spoil it with questions.”

Malee Hansen- “That’s right I am on a quest Mary.  But we like questions.  It helps us know to know who we are. - I am of infinite worth with my own divine mission, which I will strive to fulfill.”

Mary Poppins- You ladies seem to have all the answers—What about this?
“A cover is not a book so open it up and take a look.”

Whitney Bulloch- Mary, I think you are describing the value, knowledge.  I will continually seek opportunities for learning and growth.

Mary Poppins- Good for you dear, “Today or Never, that’s my motto.”

Brinley Christensen- Mary, you are talking about the power of choice. You are referring to the value, Choice and Accountability.  I will choose good over evil and will accept responsibility for my decisions.

Mary Poppins- My, my you are a smart lot!  What about this one?
“Head up and Feet Beneath you.”

Jordyn Melling-  You are talking about what to do when times are tough.  Good advice. Good Works really works. Good Works help both the doer and the receiver.  “I will help others and build the kingdom through righteous service.”

Mary Poppins- You know I always say, “Let the past take a bow, the Forever is now.”

Lainey Fullmer- Yes Mary, you have the power to chart you own course with integrity as your guide.  “I will have the Moral Courage to make my actions consistent with my knowledge of right and wrong.”

Mary Poppins- Well now “There’s nowhere to go but  up.”

Avery Stonely- That’s our goal Mary.  We want to go up.  We do that through the value virtue. I will prepare to enter the temple and remain pure and worthy.  My thoughts and actions will be based on high moral standards.

Mary Poppins- (looking across the room at all the young women and then circling back to look at the Young Women on Stage.
You Young Women truly are, Practically Perfect in Everyway!
